3 Fighters, 1 Coach - 5 Gold Medals!
The weekend of September 8th is now one of my most favourite weekends, so far. I am so privilege to have taken such an amazing team with me to Melbourne to compete in the 2012 Australasian Machado Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Championships - or 'The Gathering'.

The team featured 3 of my Brown Belts, all of them have been training exceptionally hard for this event. Unfortunately, 2 of them were in the same division, unfortunately our first fight of the day was the two Brown Belts in the same division facing each other.
It's hard to put into words the effort and determination that goes into this level of competition. Phil Hayward dominated his division, never in danger and always attacking. He won his division (all fights together) in under 4 or 5 minutes.
Rory had a couple of tough fights, he was in control for most of them and it was only a shoulder injury that lead to a lose in his final fight.
Sheldon was off to a slightly 'shaky' start but finished in true form, true warrior that he is. It was great to see that after his final fight and win, that he got up and was ready to keep going. Smile on his face and found his groove.

Phil Hayward 1 x Gold.
Rory Cubitt 1 x Gold, 1 x Silver
Sheldon Griffiths 2 x Gold, 1 x Silver, 1 x Bronze
Adam Metcalf 1 x Gold
