September 9th 2012.
The weekend just gone has been an exceptional one. Our Brown Belts competed in the Machado National Gathering, all of them taking out the Gold Medals.
Our Brazilian Jiu Jitsu coach came out of retirement after 8 years of no competition (and no competition training) to compete in the Seniors Black Belt division,... and won!

One of the highlights of the Gathering is to spend time with all the Machado family from around the world. John Will (senior coach for all of Australasia) brings Rigan Machado down under for a seminar and also to help with reffing the Black Belt division. It's always heaps of fun.
I (Adam) decided to compete roughly an hour or so before the Black Belt division started to have a bit of fun (injured and no preparation). It was so much fun, I ended up winning the division but more importantly got to show my guys that even tho it's a competition, its still always fun.
The day after the seminar, I was awarded my 2nd Degree Black Belt by Rigan Machado and John Will. This was such a great surprise and an honor to be awarded it in front of my Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Family and the guys that came along to compete as well.
Adam's Weekend: 1 x Gold Medal as a Black Belt, 1 Promotion in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu - Plus got to see every one of my BJJ Family take home the gold! It doesn't get much better then this!
Thanks to all and see you on the mats soon.
